A historic Black church.
Still Advancing Faith.
From the founding of African Methodism in 1816 to our witness in High Point today — Pearson Memorial AME is a praying, preaching, serving community.

Rooted in Allen. Rising in High Point.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church was born in 1787 when Richard Allen and Absalom Jones walked out of St. George's Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and built a church where Black Christians could worship in dignity. Pearson Memorial AME carries that witness into High Point, North Carolina — a people built on prayer, sustained by grace, and moving on up.
Plan a Visit
A shepherd's heart. A preacher's voice.
Our pastor walks with the congregation through every season — celebrating new births, comforting the grieving, equipping leaders, and proclaiming the unchanging Word in a changing world. Every Sunday is an invitation: come up higher.
"We don't preach a small gospel for small people. We preach the whole counsel of God for a people God calls great."
Eternal Relationship. Right Now.
One Triune God
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — eternal, sovereign, present.
Scripture
The Bible is the inspired, living Word of God and our rule of faith.
Salvation
By grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Lord.
The Church
The body of Christ, called to worship, witness, and serve.
Justice & Liberation
From Richard Allen's stand in 1787 to today — God is the God of the oppressed.
The Coming Kingdom
Christ will return; the saints will reign; love will have the last word.
